Paramahamsa Nithyananda,
a renowned spiritual master of the modern age, was born
in the famous spiritual town of Thiruvannamalai in the
Southern part of India, which has been home for several
enlightened masters like Ramana Maharshi and Yogi Ram
Surat Kumar.
Swamiji, as his disciples and devotees lovingly call
him, was drawn to
spirituality from a very young
age. It all started with sitting on his grandfather’s
shoulders and hearing him tell many inspiring mythological
stories everyday while they visited and went around
the famous Arunachaleshwara temple, the spiritual hub
of Thiruvannamalai. As a young 3 year old boy, he would
be seen spending most of his time playing with idols,
talking to them, decorating them and feeding them, as
if they were living beings, which to him they were.
During his childhood years he spent a lot of time, with
wandering mendicants and saints who visited his hometown,
observing and learning from them. An inspiring account
of Swamiji’s childhood years can be read in his biography
“Nithyananda Vol.1”
Through intense meditation
practices and in-depth study of Yoga, Tantra, Vedanta,
and Shaiva philosophies,
Swamiji attained the ultimate state of consciousness,
the State of Nithyananda (Eternal Bliss) at the age
of 22. Having received the ultimate gift, Swamiji felt
the intense need to share this precious gift with humanity.
Thus was born
Dhyanapeetam
in the east and
Life Bliss Foundation
in the west, in the year 2003. His mission - “Transformation
of humanity through transformation of the individual”.
Within a short period of 5 years he spread his wings
over 33 countries. The foundation now has more than
a 1000 centers around the world.
Swamiji’s passion for temples and idols, which started
at age 3, took the form of Vedic Temple after enlightenment,
a sacred
space where one can commune with existence through the
beautiful Gods and
Goddesses who reside there.
In the ashram in Bidadi in Bangalore, India one will
find many idols and worship items made by Swamiji with
his own hands during his childhood. Today, most of the
deities in the Vedic temples have been carved from molds
that have been personally designed by Swamiji. His passion
for creating these ancient temple art forms took the
form of
Nithyananda Sacred Arts
which aims to propagate and preserve this fading art
form by producing awe inspiring sculptures and art work.
A multi-dimensional
enlightened master Swamiji provides different techniques
to his devotees and disciples, depending on their constitution,
to raise themselves and connect with their higher self.
Worship is one of them. Energized by an enlightened
master, the deities in the Vedic Temples provide a peaceful
and sacred space where one can easily fall into
meditation and commune with the divine within themselves.
